Welcome letter from the President of iADH
(International Association of Disability and Oral Health)
On behalf of the Executive Board of the International Association of Disability and Oral Health (iADH), it is my great pleasure and honour invite you to join the 26th IADH Congress to be held in Paris, France under the auspices of Santé Orale et Soins Spécifiques (SOSS).
iADH is a global organization with over 8000 members from all sectors of health and social care interested in disability and oral health.
Since 1970, iADH has hosted a biennial congress that provides members from all over the world with an opportunity to assemble in one place, and share their scientific knowledge and collective experience to improve desired oral health outcomes for people with disabilities.
I am thrilled that during my presidency our wonderful venue will be The Plais d'Issy a stunning, classified Art Deco monument. I can think of no better surroundings to gather with friends and colleagues to consider the important theme of “Quality Matters’.
Quality of healthcare is a key component of the route to equity and dignity for people with disabilities and disadvantages. Quality care has to be based on scientific knowledge and evidence-based guidelines and we anticipate that the 26th iADH conference will offer a phenomenal international scientific program with world-class keynote speakers and a showcase of the best available research in Special Care Dentistry.
Quality care should also be people-centred which takes into account the preferences and aspirations of individual service users and the culture of their community. iADH is therefore particularly delighted and fortunate that people with disabilities are central to the organisation of this conference.
On an individual basis the IADH will give each of us the opportunity to share in new knowledge and techniques, and build a network of personal and professional support with which to better deliver quality special care dentistry for our patients when we return to our workplaces.
IADH members are professional, committed people but first time attendees should also expect an excellent and varied social programme that is inclusive rather than exclusive, fun rather than fanciful and ALWAYS friendly.
On behalf of iADH, I would like to thank Dr Denise Faulks, chair of the scientific committee of the 26th Congress, and the local organizing committee for their hard work and vision into the planning of this event.
See you in PARIS !
President of iADH
Welcome letter from the President of SOSS
(French Association for Disability and Oral Health)
It is with great pleasure that we prepare to welcome you all to Paris in 2022 !
SOSS (Santé Orale et Soins Spécifiques) (French Association for Disability and Oral Health) is delighted to have been selected to organise the 26th iADH international conference. We regret that the world situation prevented us from all meeting up in Acapulco in 2020 but we hope that this loss will only increase the pleasure of our reunion in 2022 !
The 2022 Paris organising committee has been working hard over the last two years to ensure the success of the conference. The different committees are dynamic and active, and are gaining members and momentum as the event draws closer. We aim to pay particular attention to the quality of the scientific presentations and to present as a wide a perspective as possible of all facets of special care dentistry. We hold dear the full involvement of the persons concerned by our discipline. One of the specificities of SOSS is that our association is made up of persons with disability and their representatives, alongside dental and medico-social professionals. We are particularly attached to this structure and hope to carry this ethos over to the iADH conference.
The choice of theme for our event evolved naturally from this context: Quality matters – ensuring equitable health outcomes. The rights of vulnerable populations to achieve an equitable standard of oral health are increasingly enshrined and we hope to showcase examples of best practice and scientific evidence to make this premise a reality worldwide.
Many of you have already visited France and Paris but we hope that all will take great pleasure in discovering or rediscovering the delights of this magical city ! The conference will be held in the sumptuous Palais d'Issy, a magnificent Art Deco palace of which we will have exclusive use. The conference will run from Tuesday to Friday in order to leave the weekend free for those of you who wish to take the time appreciate the French ‘savoir-vivre’ following a busy and happy conference schedule, rich in exchange and in learning.
We can’t wait to greet you all in person !
